Speed 400 Speed Control
Updates
- 15 July 1998
- The initial web site is operational.
29 August 1998
- I added two optional changes to the design.:
- I added an optional RF suppression capacitor (C5 on the schematic) to eliminate a problem in some
installations. In these installations, placing the transmitter antenna in very close proximity to the aircraft
would sometimes cause the motor to run. NOTE: This problem has only been seen with 72 MHz
systems. A friend of mine is running one in the 6 meter amateur radio band, and has never seen the
problem.
- I added an option for a 1A BEC regulator. As explained in the description of the option, the 1/2A
design is lower risk if the lower current is enough. However, one of my correspondents feels that it is
much more useful with the 1A capability, and tells me that many commercial speed controllers use this
regulator. I am currently flying with the 1A design and am having no problems.
I have also made public an offer to sell pre-programmed PIC processors and surface-mount capacitors; see
the parts list for a description of the offer.
30 October 2001
- The offer to sell pre-programmed PIC processors has been withdrawn. When they sterilize the mail, it will
destroy the chips.
